How to prepare Gerber and BOM files for PCB assembly

A simple preparation guide for clean Gerber packages, BOM lists, centroid data, and assembly notes.

Prepare the Gerber package

Export copper layers, solder mask, paste mask, silkscreen, board outline, and drill files from the same CAD revision.

Compress the Gerber package into one ZIP file and include a short readme if there are controlled impedance, panelization, surface finish, or special process requirements.

Prepare the assembly package

Include the BOM list, pick-and-place or centroid file, assembly drawing, polarity notes, and any keep-out or orientation instructions.

If you need functional testing, include the test procedure, expected results, firmware files, or test fixture information if available.
